New Delhi: Actor Emraan Hashmi has denied reports of him playing iconic actor-producer Mehmood in the RD Burman biopic. According to a report by Pinkvilla,
Emraan Hashmi joined the project and signed on the dotted lines to play the role of Mehmood.
The social media was abuzz with the reports of Emraan Hashmi playing Mehmood in the RD Burman biopic. Fans were overjoyed to take on an iconic role. But, the reports turned out to be untrue.

Taking to X (formally Twitter), Emraan Hasmi clarified that the reports are not true and he haven’t been approached for it.
He wrote, “Just to clarify, the reports about me playing Mehmood saab in a biopic are untrue. I haven’t been approached for the film, nor am I doing it.”

The report also stated that Akshay Kumar will essay the role of Rajesh Khanna (his father-in-law in real life) in the biopic. It further reported that the film is in the pre-production stage with the makers gearing up to take the ambitious project on floors in September. The film is directed by Neeraj Pandey and co-produced by Excel Entertainment, according to a Pinkvilla report.
Emraan Hashmi’s work front
Meanwhile, on the work front, Emraan Hashmi will be next seen in Awarapan 2, which is slated to release in theatres this Friday. The much-awaited sequel of the 2007 will clash at the box office with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947.
He also has horror film Rooh, Adivi Sesh and Wamiqa Gabbi’s Telugu movie G2, action-thriller Gunmaaster, and a film titled Harami in his pipeline.
He was last seen in a cameo role in Aryan Khan’s directorial, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and Haq, also starring Yami Gautam.
