Dehradun: The state government has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level meeting
at the Secretariat to review arrangements and directed officials to ensure that pilgrims face no inconvenience during the sacred journey.
CM Dhami emphasized that the Char Dham Yatra is not only a matter of faith but also a vital pillar of Uttarakhand’s economy and tourism. He assured that there will be no shortage of cooking gas cylinders along the pilgrimage routes. In view of possible challenges in global petroleum supply, the Forest Corporation has been instructed to provide firewood as an alternative.
Alternative arrangements for cooking
The Chief Minister explained that firewood will be made available at identified locations along the yatra routes. This will ensure that pilgrims and locals do not face difficulties in cooking, even if gas supply is disrupted. He clarified that the government is in constant coordination with petroleum agencies to maintain smooth supply lines.
Focus on basic facilities
Dhami directed officials to complete all arrangements on a war footing. He stressed that basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, toilets, health services, parking, and traffic management must be ready before the yatra begins. The condition of pilgrimage routes is being reviewed, and repair work is being carried out where needed.
Safety and disaster management
The Chief Minister highlighted that the safety of pilgrims is the top priority. Police and disaster management teams have been instructed to remain fully active during the yatra season. Coordination between departments has been emphasized to ensure that any emergency can be handled swiftly.
Faith and tourism together
Dhami said the Char Dham Yatra is the hallmark of Uttarakhand. Lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad visit Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri every year. The government is determined to provide them a safe, smooth, and spiritually fulfilling experience.
Preparedness despite challenges
Acknowledging the global challenges in petroleum and gas supply, Dhami assured that Uttarakhand is fully prepared. Advance planning has been done to avoid any fuel shortage in the state. The Forest Department’s involvement in supplying wood is part of this proactive approach.
With the portals of the Char Dham shrines set to open later this month, the government’s focus remains on ensuring that every pilgrim can complete the journey without facing difficulties.
