New Delhi: The Capital received another spell of monsoon rain on Tuesday evening, bringing some relief from the heat as showers swept parts of the national
capital. Rain was reported around ITO, Laxmi Nagar and several other areas while wet roads affected traffic movement on some routes.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain for Wednesday, September 2. Light to moderate showers are expected in parts of Delhi with cloudy conditions likely during the day with the weather system is expected to remain active over the capital over the next few days.
The IMD has also warned that heavy rainfall could occur at isolated places. Moderate rain was forecast across several parts of Delhi on Tuesday, including southeast, east, Shahdara, central, northeast, south, New Delhi, west, northwest and north Delhi. Light rain was expected in other areas.

Skymet Weather’s Mahesh Palawat said cloudy skies are likely on Wednesday, with light rain possible in isolated areas from the late afternoon and evening.
“Tomorrow, we can see cloudy skies and in the late afternoon and evening hours, till the day after tomorrow, we can see light rain in isolated areas. Rain can be expected in the national capital for the next three days,” Palawat said on tuesday.
The change in weather follows a relatively warm Tuesday. The maximum temperature at Safdarjung, Delhi’s main weather station, was 36 degrees Celsius, around 1.5 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 27.8 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees above normal.
Rain may bring temporary relief
Palawat said humid air moving in from the Bay of Bengal is expected to increase cloud cover and humidity after westerly winds contributed to rising temperatures earlier on Tuesday. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain in many parts of Delhi until September 4 with isolated heavy rainfall also possible.
Meanwhile, the weather alert issued on Tuesday had advised caution as rain affected several parts of the city. The showers brought temporary relief from the heat but commuters may need to remain prepared for slippery roads and possible traffic disruptions on Wednesday.
