New Delhi: Article 370 emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 72nd National Awards 2026, taking home three major honours, including Best Actress
for Yami Gautam and Best Music Direction for Shashwat Sachdev. Producer Aditya Dhar has now shared his reaction, saying the team never made the film with awards in mind.
In a statement issued after the winners were announced, Dhar described the recognition as an emotional and humbling moment. He said the team was driven by the desire to tell the story with honesty and conviction rather than pursue accolades.
“Winning three National Awards for Article 370 is a moment that is difficult to put into words. It is humbling, deeply emotional and one that fills my heart with immense gratitude,” he said.
Dhar added that seeing the film connect with audiences and receive the country’s highest recognition in cinema made the journey even more meaningful.
Credits shared with entire team
The filmmaker credited director Aditya Suhas Jambhale for shaping the film with his vision and conviction. He also acknowledged the performances of Yami Gautam Dhar and Priyamani, while praising Shashwat Sachdev’s music for strengthening the film’s narrative.
Expressing gratitude to the cast and crew, Dhar said the honour belonged to everyone who contributed to the project and stood by it throughout its production.
Jio Studios President Jyoti Deshpande also welcomed the recognition, describing it as an emotional moment. She said the team had embarked on the project without expecting awards and dedicated the achievement to everyone involved in bringing the film to life.
Director calls honour overwhelming
Director Aditya Suhas Jambhale, who received his third National Award, said the recognition remained as overwhelming as ever. He added that Article 370 aimed to present a significant chapter in India’s history with sincerity, empathy and cinematic conviction rather than offer simplistic answers.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 was co-written by Jambhale, Aditya Dhar, Monal Thaakar and Arjun Dhawan. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar, the film stars Yami Gautam, Priyamani, Skand Thakur, Ashwini Kaul, Vaibhav Tatwawadi, Arun Govil and Kiran Karmarkar. The political thriller is based on the 2019 revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
