New Delhi: An Indian, who returned from Canada, shared how different driving was in India. He claimed it was not about the rules, but about survival. He added
that it wasn’t possible to follow strict driving rules in India as it often led to abuse, unlike in Canada.
In the post captioned “Why driving in India feels like playing with your life”, the Redditor stated that he was inclined to following rules such as staying in the lane, obeying speed limits, etc. However, on returning to India, he realized it wasn’t going to work. He was forced to realize that following rules weren’t easy in India. In the post, he recounted an incident where the Redditor was driving with his mother when a scooter swerved left across their path. The rider, who didn’t put on the indicator, shouted at the Redditor for not noticing their turn.

“That’s when I realized something: Driving in India isn’t about rules, it’s about survival,” said the Redditor. He stated that every trip was a gamble as drivers in India had to navigate blinding high beams at night, stray animals, potholes, etc.
