New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday slammed the Government and questioned the need for the use of pellet guns, lathi and tear gas against
the protesting students during the recent protests over NEET paper leaks.
Addressing the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill, the Wayanad MP asked who gave the right to the personnel to use pallet guns on protesting students. She added that while there were 152 paper leaks in the last 10 years, no mafia was punished to date.

“Home Minister Amit Shah must answer who authorised use of pellet guns on protesting students: Priyanka Gandhi in Lok Sabha. I want to ask PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, were students terrorists; Congress is demanding answers,” she said in her address.
The Congress leader added, “Why are you scared of youths of this country, who gave you the right to suppress students? Students expressed pain through protests, wanted the education minister’s resignation, action against those who assaulted them.”
‘152 paper leaks in last 10 years’
Accusing the Centre of not taking enough steps to stop paper leaks, she added, “The exam system has failed. There were 152 paper leaks in the last 10 years, but not one mafia was punished. Since the 2024 anti-paper leak bill was passed, there has not been one conviction.” “ If you want to win back the confidence of Gen Z, making videos from different camera angles will not work,” Priyanka Gandhi added further. In her speech, the Congress leader also accused the government of weakening all employment-generating sectors.
Asking PM Modi to take responsibility for attacks on protesters, she observed, “Students can be removed from the streets but not their questions. Every ‘lathi’ blow on any boy or girl, hit govt’s prestige more than the back of students.”
