New Delhi:Volvo Car India has announced a price hike across its entire lineup, with all four cars set to command a premium by up to Rs 1 lakh from May
1, 2026. The move comes following a similar trend across the luxury car space, with brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi also revising prices from April 1st itself.
The Swedish luxury carmaker has noted that the revision is being driven by constant global supply chain disruptions and forex fluctuations, both of which have pushed up input and logistics costs. Volvo has also hinted that further price revisions cannot be ruled out if the geopolitical and economic conditions continue to be unstable.
How Volvo’s portfolio stands at present
While the company is yet to reveal the exact model-wise increase, the hike will apply to its full India portfolio, which currently includes the EX30, EC40, XC60 and XC90. At present, prices range from Rs 41 lakh for the EX30 to Rs 97.8 lakh for the flagship XC90 (all ex-showroom).
For potential buyers, the brand has kept a small but important buying window before the revised prices kick in next month. Models like the EX30 electric SUV and XC60 luxury SUV, which have seen strong traction in India, are likely to witness healthy demand from customers looking to beat the increase.
The newest revision also underlines how currency volatility and global shipping bottlenecks continue to impact premium carmakers in India, particularly for brands which are heavy on imports. It isn’t just the premium carmakers, of course, as over the last few weeks, the likes of Mahindra, JSW MG, Hyundai, BYD, amongst many have hiked their prices. India’s top manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, too has warned of a price hike if the global situation doesn’t improve in the coming time. For Volvo, the May 1 revision is as much about protecting margins as it is about absorbing rising international costs.
