North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja, a legacy since 1948
Over the years, the celebration moved to the Tulip Star Hotel in Juhu before finding its current location near SNDT Women’s University in Juhu. The event has continued across generations of the Mukherjee family, with veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, Ayan Mukerji’s father, previously playing a key role in managing the festivities. He died in 2025.
The 80th edition celebration continues a tradition that has connected the family with Mumbai’s Durga Puja celebrations for decades.
Rani Mukerji, who’s a regular at the Puja festivities, might not join the celebrations this year, as her mother, Krishna Mukherjee, died on September 22.
