New Delhi: Awarapan 2 is the sequel to the 2007 romantic action film Awarapan. The film, featuring Emraan Hashmi, was shot in several locations across
India and Southeast Asia. The production travelled through Rajasthan in India, Bangkok in Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, giving the movie a variety of landscapes and city environments.
Now, let’s explore the scenic locations where the film was shot.
Rajasthan
Rajasthan was an important part of the film’s Indian shooting schedule. Sambhar and Jaipur were among the locations used by the production.
The Sambhar region is known for its expansive salt landscape and dry surroundings. Such scenery provides a distinctive backdrop for dramatic moments and action scenes. Jaipur offered a different visual setting, combining its urban environment with the architectural character and cultural atmosphere associated with Rajasthan.
Using these locations allowed the filmmakers to create scenes that looked significantly different from the Southeast Asian portions of the movie.
Bangkok
A considerable part of Awarapan 2 was filmed in Bangkok, Thailand. The production spent an extended period in the city while working on several important portions of the film.
Bangkok’s streets, neighbourhoods and busy surroundings were used to create an energetic urban atmosphere. The city also served as a setting for action sequences and other major scenes involving the principal cast.
The choice of Bangkok is also notable because the original Awarapan had a connection with the city. Bringing the sequel’s production back to Bangkok creates a geographical link between the two films while giving the new story a contemporary setting.
Kuala Lumpur
The production later moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for another schedule. Parts of the Malaysian capital were incorporated into the film’s later stages of shooting.
Areas around Bukit Bintang and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur were among the reported locations. The modern buildings, commercial streets and lively surroundings of central Kuala Lumpur offered a contrasting backdrop to the rural and desert-like landscapes filmed in Rajasthan.
The Kuala Lumpur schedule helped add another international dimension to the movie’s visual presentation.
Variety of Locations
One of the notable features of the production is the contrast between its different shooting environments. Rajasthan contributes wide, open landscapes and traditional Indian surroundings, whereas Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur provide densely populated modern cityscapes.
Moving between these locations allows the filmmakers to create changes in mood and atmosphere throughout the film. It also gives Awarapan 2 a broader visual scope than a production filmed primarily in one geographical region.
More about Awarapan 2
The filming of Awarapan 2 took place across Rajasthan, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, with Sambhar and Jaipur representing key locations in Rajasthan. Bangkok hosted a substantial portion of the production, including action-oriented material, while Kuala Lumpur was used during the later schedule.
The combination of Indian landscapes and Southeast Asian cities gives the sequel a diverse visual identity. These locations are expected to play an important role in establishing the atmosphere and scale of Awarapan 2.
