89.08 percent in the single-phase Legislative Assembly elections held today. Voting commenced at 7:00 AM and concluded at 5:00 PM, with citizens across all four regions of Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam standing in long queues and enthusiastically casting their votes.

Throughout election day, voters were observed to be in high spirits. A great sense of enthusiasm prevailed among first-time voters and the elderly. The Chief Minister of Puducherry, cabinet ministers, and prominent leaders of major political parties arrived with their families to cast their votes at their respective polling stations.

In this 2026 Assembly election, the ruling alliance comprising the N.R. Congress and the BJP is locked in a political battle on one side, while the INDIA alliance including the Congress and the DMK stands on the other. New political forces such as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam have also entered the fray to challenge these established alliances. Issues such as unemployment, the demand for statehood, tourism development, and the privatization of the power sector remained the primary talking points throughout this election.
