New Delhi: Economic Survey 2026 Parliament on Thursday, 29 January. This is the most important document before the budget is presented in the budget session
that kickstarted with President Droupadi Murmu’s address on Wednesday. The Economic Survey details the government’s accounts of the current financial year. According to tradition, it is released one day before the budget, but this time the government has decided to release it on January 29. Chief Economy Advisor V Ananth Nageswaran will present it in both the Houses of Parliament.
The Chief Finance Advisor will present the survey today at 11 pm in both the Houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. It was usually presented every year one day before the budget was presented i.e. on 1 February i.e. on 31 January, but this time it is being presented two days in advance.
What is Economic Survey
The Economic Survey is prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs, which comes under the purview of Finance Ministry. This is an annual report, which contains detailed information about the country’s last financial year’s economic review, GDP growth, inflation, employment, trade and fiscal health.

The Budget session began with the joint statement of President Draupadi Murmu on 28th January. This session will last in two phases till 2 April. In the first phase, the session will run from January 28 to February 13, then there will be a break in between. After this, the session will run from 9 March to 2 April in the second phase.
