New Delhi: Hours after its massive win in the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday put up a post on X setting out
its priority.
What the post said
Taking to X, the BJP’s Punjab handle wrote “Next Punjab” with an emoji of a lotus. It suggests that the saffron party has eyeing the state, which will go to polls in the first half of next year.

It would be interesting to note that the BJP had made a post on similar lines for West Bengal on November 14, 2025 after the NDA cruised to victory in the Bihar Assembly elections last year.
Then, the BJP’s West Bengal handle had posted: “Next West Bengal” along with an image of a lotus.
The BJP has already turned its focus on upcoming assembly elections in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Punjab next year, after its stellar performance in recent state polls.
Blow for AAP
In April, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab suffered a jolt when seven Rajya Sabha members belonging to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party joined hands with the BJP. Six of these seven MPs, including Raghav Chadha, were elected from Punjab.
The move was viewed as a political coup de grâce against AAP. The switch by the AAP Rajya Sabha members has set the stage for a closely watched contest in Punjab next year, where the BJP is expecting to make gains and wrest control from the AAP.
The post of BJP indicates that the party’s campaign in Punjab has already started. It has begun its strategy to consolidate its political gains in the state. With BJP’s victory in West Bengal, the high-stakes battle in Punjab would be keenly contested.
