New Delhi: After finally finding some much-needed batting form, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav re-entered the top-1o after jumping five spots to reach
seventh in the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings. Surya benifitted from a prolific run in the ongoing five-match home series against New Zealand, which India currently lead 3-0.
The former No.1 batter moved up the rankings following scores of 32, 82 not out and 57 not out to help India consolidate their dominance in the rankings. Abhishek Sharma, fresh from his record-breaking half-century in the third T20I in Guwahati, remains at the summit while Tilak Varma is in third position, just 10 days out from the T20 World Cup.
Comeback-man Ishan Kishan, who smashed 76 off 32 balls in the second match in Raipur has re-entered the rankings in the 64th position. Shivam Dubey (up nine spots to 58th) and Rinku Singh (up 13 spots to 68th) are among other batters to move up from the No.1 T20I side.
Afghanistan pair make significant gains
Afghanistan openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah have made significant progress after a good outing during their 2-1 series win over the West Indies in Dubai. While Ibrahim rose two places to 13th and Rahmanullah gained three places to 15th. Player-of-the-Series Darwish Rasooli jumped a whopping 29 spots to 87th position after amassing 156 runs in the three-match series.
South Africa captain Aiden Markram’s 47-ball 86 not out in his team’s opening match against the West Indies has catapulted him into the top 20. West Indies batter Brandon King and New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips have also made significant gains.
In the T20I bowling rankings, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman’s return of four for 21 in the second match against the West Indies helped him jump five places and reach ninth position. India’s Jasprit Bumrah jumped four places to 13th while his compatriot Ravi Bishnoi gained 13 places to 19th.
Brook, Root progress after prolific Sri Lanka series
In the ODI rankings, England batters Harry Brook and Joe Root have both made progress after helping with their side register a 2-1 series win in Sri Lanka.
Brook’s 247 runs across the three matches have lifted him 17 places to 11th, while Root’s aggregate of 184 runs moves him from 23rd to 17th spot.
In the ODI bowling charts, leg-spinner Adil Rashid has jumped up six places to fifth with seven wickets in the series against Sri Lanka.
