New Delhi: The prices of gold and silver are seeing a relentless rise. The global trade war and the weakness of the dollar have led to the surge in the bullion
market. Gold and silver prices scaled a fresh peak of on January 21, 2026. On the Multi Commodity Market i.e. MCX, where gold crossed Rs 154000 per 10 grams, silver was also seen trading at more than Rs 325000 rupees per kg.
Amid the increasing demand for safe investments, the weakness of the US dollar and the global tensions associated with the Greenland crisis, the precious metals witnessed tremendous growth. The sharp decline in Japanese government bonds also gave additional support to gold and silver.
Gold Price Today
On Wednesday, 10 grams of gold opened at Rs 1,51,575 on MCX, whereas in the previous session it settled at Rs 1,50,565. During trading, gold touched a new all-time high of Rs 1,54,344 per 10 grams. That means the price of gold jumped by about Rs 3,779 or about 2.51% in a single day.
Silver Price Today
At the same time, MCX Silver March Futures was seen trading at Rs 3,25,784 per kg with a rise of 0.65%. That means silver became costlier by Rs 2,112 in a day.
If you look at the international market, there was a bullish trend here too. Spot gold was trading at $4,845 per ounce with a rise of 3.57 percent. However, there was a decline in silver. Spot silver was trading 0.64 percent lower at 93.95 dollars per ounce.
According to the bullion website, today gold has become costlier by Rs 3840 to Rs 155070 per 10 grams. Whereas silver became costlier by Rs 1500 rupees and traded at 325,420 rupees per kg.
Why Gold and Silver prices are rising
The biggest reason behind this rise is the possibility of a possible trade war between the US and the European Union. The tension between the two has increased to such an extent that it can have an impact on the global economy as well as the NATO alliance. According to media reports, the European Parliament may announce the suspension of the approval of the US-EU trade deal signed in July.
At a time when dollar is weakening, geopolitical tension and global uncertainty rising, investors are increasingly moving towards safe investments. This is the reason why gold and silver are constantly reaching new peaks.
