New Delhi: The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup is set to entertain the masses from February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. Defending champions India are the hot
favourites to lift the trophy for the third time as the Men in Blue seem to be in a superlative form in the shortest format especially. Apart from the Indian team, Australian unit also looks to be formidable and another strong contender for the coveted trophy.
In the last edition in 2024, India defeated South Africa in a thrilling final clash to lift the trophy for the second time, after winning it in the inaugural edition back in 2007. The full-equipped Indian team has an all-round attack in both the departments which make them the strongest contender in all the 20 units.
Meanwhile, the current edition of the T20 World Cup was marred by a big controversy a month before the beginning when Bangladesh refused to travel to India for the marquee event citing security concerns in the country. This happened amid the political differences between the two countries and Mustafizur Rahman’s removal from the IPL added some more fuel to the fire.
Ultimately, the ICC stepped and after weeks of trying to convince the BCB to participate in the global event, they finally replaced the side with Scotland after a relocation of their fixtures to Sri Lanka was impossible. After this chapter closed, Pakistan tried to cause some more trouble by staging a drama about their pullout from the marquee event but it seems like they are now ready to travel to the island nation.
