New Delhi: In a new move, JioHotstar hosted a live digital premiere of Ranveer Singh‘s blockbuster hit movie, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. However, fans were
disappointed and criticised the move by the online streaming giant.
Many argued that the move undermined one of the OTT’s biggest advantages – the flexibility to watch the content anytime, as per convenience and the live premiere lacked the viewing experience. Many even complained about poor audio and video quality, and too many ads that ruined the movie for the viewers.
Fans slam Dhurandhar 2 live premiere
A fan slammed the JioHotstar for using Dynamic range compression in sound, which ruined the viewing experience. The user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “@JioHotstar Shame on you, we eagerly waited for the premiere of #Dhurandhar2TheRevenge, such a fantastic movie, and you used DRC(Dynamic range compression) in sound? Ridiculous, all the sound of action and impacts were highly compressed. You destroyed the whole joy.”

Another wrote, “@JioHotstar could’ve simply released #Dhurandhar2TheRevenge as it is without the drama of this live streaming premiere and people could’ve enjoyed it. Now there are 2 things that will happen:
1. People who did not watch the movie starting 7PM will be unable to watch it in its entirety till the premiere ends.
2. Anybody who watches the live streaming premiere will have to watch it with commentary breaks, ruining the actual movie experience! Why do this?”
