New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Indonesia as part of his three-nation tour. On Wednesday (July 8), PM Modi addressed the Indian
diaspora in Jakarta, using Shah Rukh Khan’s film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai‘s reference to redefine ties with the country.
Filmmaker Karan Johar also reacted to his nod to the film, saying that he felt “honoured”.
PM Narendra Modi received a grand welcome in Indonesia. After this, he will head to Australia and New Zealand.

In his speech, PM Modi said, “Yahan Bharat ka gana Kuch Kuch Hota Hai bahut hi lokpriya hai. Aaj maine is par kaha ki jab Bharat aur Indonesia saath milkar chalte hain, toh ‘Kuch Kuch’ se bhi aage badhkar ‘bahut kuch’ hota hai.”
Directed by Karan Johar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji in key roles. The film also has a cameo by Salman Khan.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Karan Johar reshared the video of PM Modi’s speech in Jakarta and wrote, “Elated and honoured to have our esteemed Prime Minister @narendramodi ji speak about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in Jakarta. Meanwhile, PM Modi’s speech, specifically mentioning Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, has gone viral on social media.

PM Modi on Indonesia’s passion for football
PM Modi also spoke about the passion for football in Indonesia. He said, “Football fever is sweeping the world these days. Here in Indonesia, too, the passion for football is immense, and it is evident that you have all brought that same energy and enthusiasm with you here.” He also recalled that his previous visits to Indonesia had coincided with World Cup years.
