Asha Bhosle restaurants: Asha Bhosle’s voice shaped Indian music for generations, but her legacy doesn’t stop there. She also built a successful international
restaurant chain, sharing her love for food far beyond the stage.
While everyone remembers her incredible musical career that spanned seven decades, fewer people know about her deep passion for cooking. That love for the kitchen pushed her to create a restaurant brand that brought true Indian flavors to diners all around the world.
Asha Bhosle’s restaurants around the world
Asha Bhosle’s restaurant chain, Asha’s, began its journey in Dubai in 2002. Over the years, the brand expanded into multiple international cities, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
In total, the chain operated around ten restaurants worldwide, offering diners a menu inspired by Asha Tai’s own culinary creations. The restaurants focused on traditional Indian flavours, often featuring dishes that the singer herself loved to cook. Sources also revealed that the spices used in the restaurant’s kitchen were chosen according to the singer’s heirloom recipes.

In a 2015 interview with the BBC, Asha Bhosle described how cooking and singing were deeply connected for her. “I love cooking as much as I love singing. Cooking comes from the heart… It should be made with love, for others to enjoy, just like singing,” she said.
Asha Bhosle’s signature dishes that impressed Bollywood
Among her most famous creations was Peshawari-style maa ki daal, a dish she proudly said she had learned from people in Peshawar. In a 2025 interview with Curly Tales, Asha Bhosle said, “Meri daal jo hai… Maa ki daal bolte hain na… Woh maine Peshawar ke logon se seekhi hai. Meri jo dal hai kahin nahi milti hai.”
Her chicken biryani, prawn chops, baingan bharta and kebabs were also legendary within the film industry. According to the singer, her home frequently hosted large gatherings. “Poori industry mein mera khana famous hai. Main har haft 60-70 log aate the. Itne bade patile mein khaana banati thi…” she recalled in the same interview.
Even her sister, iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar, was a devoted fan of her cooking. She once shared that Lata particularly loved her shammi kebabs.
Inspired by her son
Interestingly, the idea for opening a restaurant reportedly came from her son, Anand Bhosle, who loved her cooking and once told her he would open a restaurant in her name. That dream eventually turned into the globally recognised Asha’s restaurant chain.
Even while ruling the music charts, Asha Tai never hid her love for the kitchen. Wearing a chef’s coat, she once joked, “Itni khushi hoti hai mujhe ye chef coat pehen kar. Jab yeh coat pehenti hoon na, lagta hai jaise koi accha dress pehna ho.”
