New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed a new team to lead its outreach programme aimed at Gen Z, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi
asked ministers to step up their engagement with young people through direct interactions and online platforms.
The team includes BJP national president Nitin Nabin, national general secretaries Smriti Irani and Vinod Tawde, Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh Minister OP Choudhary, among other leaders. A senior party source told news agency ANI about the formation of the team.
The BJP is expected to begin its Gen Z outreach programme soon. The initiative is aimed at building a more direct and regular conversation with young voters and understanding the issues that matter to them.
What is BJP’s Gen Z outreach programme?
The BJP’s move comes as political parties increase their focus on younger voters. The opposition has also been reaching out to young people with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi leading the “Chhatron Ki Goonj” movement in several states.
The BJP’s programme is expected to focus on the aspirations, concerns and expectations of Gen Z. Young people will also get an opportunity to interact with party leaders and put forward their views on different issues.
The party hopes the initiative will help strengthen its connect with young voters through discussions, direct interactions and online engagement.
Nitin Nabin chairs first meeting
Nabin on Saturday chaired the first introductory meeting of the BJP’s newly appointed office-bearers following a major organisational reshuffle.
The meeting was attended by National Organisational General Secretary BL Santhosh, programme in-charge Vinod Tawde, state BJP presidents, state in-charges and organisational general secretaries. Both outgoing and newly appointed office-bearers took part in the meeting.
The gathering also marked the beginning of work under the BJP’s new organisational team with discussions focusing on the party’s political and organisational roadmap.
Before the meeting began, all six stanzas of the national song “Vande Mataram” were recited. The BJP is now expected to take forward its Gen Z outreach as part of its wider effort to strengthen its connection with young voters.
