New Delhi: Arjun Tendulkar delivered an all-round performance, helping DY Patil Blue to beat Indian Navy by five wickets in the 20th DY Patil T20 Cup on
Thursday, February 26. Arjun picked up one wicket and also scored 55 runs to win the Man of the Match award for his impressive performance.
Batting first, the Indian Navy posted 219/4 in 20 overs. Kumar Pathak scored 87 runs off 53 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and three maximums, and Nitin Tanwar also smashed an unbeaten fifty, while Nakul Sharma also played an explosive cameo to help the Indian Navy set a massive target for the DY Patil Blue. Arjun Tendulkar, Puneet Datey, Mayank Yadav, and skipper Shashank Singh took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, DY Patil Blue got off to a poor start as Mohit Jangra removed Yash Dhull for 12 runs in the third over. After his dismissal, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 63 runs off 19 balls with the help of seven boundaries and five maximums. Amit Shukla dismissed Vaibhav in the seventh over, while Jitesh Sharma (3) and Shashank also failed to make a significant contribution with the bat.
Arjun Tendulkar shines
After losing quick wickets in the middle overs, DY Patil Blue still needed to chase down the massive target, and Arjun Tendulkar played a sensational innings to take his team over the line. Arjun came to bat at number 7 and smashed an unbeaten 55 runs off 29 balls at a strike rate of 189.66.
He hit seven boundaries and two maximums during his blistering knock, and sealed the victory with a six off the first ball in the final over. The DY Patil T20 tournament serves as a warm-up event for the IPL 2026, which is reportedly set to begin on March 26.
Arjun will represent Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2026 after a successful transfer from the Mumbai Indians (MI). Arjun moved to LSG at his existing fee of Rs 30 Lakh.
