Bishkek: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit being held in Kyrgyzstan capital of
Bishkek. During his address, the Prime Minister called for the need to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism as well as its financing.
He added that countries must speak in one voice against terrorism and that there should not be any place for double standards in dealing with the menace globally.
“We must speak in one voice that there can be no place for no double standards in dealing with terrorism. There is no solution on battle field and all wars and conflicts must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy,” the PM said.
The PM added, “India supports all efforts that connect markets, facilitate trade, and open new pathways for development. Efforts for connectivity must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. Three main pillars of India’s vision for SCO are:ccccurity, Connectivity and Opportunity.”
PM Modi participates in rare photo-op with Xi, Putin and Sharif
Earlier in one of the rare occasions when PM Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif all stood in one frame.
The photo op was taken before the world leaders took to a round-table conference at Bishkek’s Yrys Ordo Congress Hall. Among the other world leaders who also joined the photo-op were Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Importantly, apart from 10 member countries that participated at the SCO Summit, 15 partner countries and 2 observers also participated in the event. Discussions on principles recognised globally and norms of international law are the main goals of the Sumit, news agency ANI reported.
Apart from these, the goal of the summit is also to encourage multilateral interaction to ensure security and stability in the region. Members are also looking to address new and upcoming challenges and threats, encourage cooperation in several sectors and promote economic growth and cultural development among countries.
