Mumbai: The BSE Sensex marginally appreciated 36.18 points to 85,077.63 in early trade on Monday. The NSE Nifty gained 17.40 points to 26,059.70. The stock
market benchmark indices gained momentum tracking a firm trend in Asian peers and sustained buying by domestic institutional investors.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 317.56 crore on Friday, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased stocks worth Rs 1,772.56 crore.
Gainers from the 30-Sensex pack: Maruti, Bharat Electronics, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Steel, Eternal, and Trent. Laggards included Power Grid, Axis Bank, Adani Ports, and Bajaj Finserv.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and South Korea’s Kospi traded in Green, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 index traded lower. The US stock markets closed on a flat note on Friday. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, gained 1.04 per cent to USD 61.27 per barrel.
On Friday, 26 December 2025, the BSE barometer declined 367.25 points to end at 85,041.45. The 50-share Nifty dropped by 99.80 points to 26,042.30.
