New Delhi: British supercar maker McLaren is set to lower prices across its India lineup by close to 38 per cent, as reported by Autocar India. This makes
it the first supercar marque to follow JLR’s footsteps, passing the benefits that are expected from the India-UK free trade agreement.
The McLaren 750S coupe’s price is set to fall to Rs 4.94 crore from around the current Rs 7.94 crore. The convertible 750S Spider too will see a drop in price from Rs 8.78 crore to Rs 5.46 crore. These two will have the biggest impact in the price drop followed by GTS grand tourer which will fall from Rs 6.15 crore to Rs 3.83 crore. Each model will see a decline between Rs 2.3 crore to Rs 3.3 crore. These figures haven’t been confirmed by McLaren yet.
Of course, the Artura, being a hybrid, will have no price revision as this powertrain doesn’t qualify for lower tax benefits for the first five years.
The duty relief comes from the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, which is likely to cut the customs duty on British petrol cars above 3,000 cc and diesel cars above 2,500 cc from 110 per cent to 30 per cent in the first year, falling to per cent by the fifth year within an annual import quota. Both the 750S and the GTS take from a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which puts them in the top engine band.
Back in May, JLR had become the first carmaker to act, pulling down the Range Rover SV’s price by Rs 40 lakh to Rs 2.35 crore. McLaren’s planned reduction is more than double, standing at 38 per cent.
When will we see the new prices come into play?
The agreement hasn’t come into effect yet, after it was signed on July 24th, 2025, and an April 2026 target for implementation has passed, with Indian and UK officials still resolving issues, including steel safeguards, as of the start of June. None of the duty cuts applies until both sides exchange ratification notifications, so brands moving now are passing premeditated benefits.
The quota also caps the number of cars that qualify and must be shared across British marques, which makes allocation as important as price.
McLaren came to India back in 2021 and opened its first showroom in Mumbai sometime in late 2022. The portfolio includes the likes of the 750S coupe and Spider, the Artura and the GTS, and the brand has already delivered about 50 cars in the country by early 2025.
Brands that are eligible for the lower duty but haven’t announced yet include Aston Martin, Lotus and Bentley but haven’t announced anything yet. The extent of the reductions will also depend on import volumes and individual brand strategy. For the luxury market, the deal marks the first tariff concession on cars in any trade deal.
