New Delhi: A bizarre incident has taken place in a flight in India which has once again reminded us that there are certain etiquettes one must follow while
travelling with other passengers. In the incident, the police have registered a case against a passenger who allegedly smoked a ‘beedi’ inside the toilet of a Delhi-Goa Akasa Air flight.

According to the officials, on Saturday, the accused who has been identified as a resident of Delhi named Ashish was travelling on flight QP1625 from Delhi to Goa. The airline in its complaint has stated that the passenger allegedly smoked a ‘beedi’ inside the toilet during the flight. Also, he had a lighter, a safety risk for the aircraft and other passengers on board.
The police have registered a case against the passenger at the Mopa airport police station in Goa, and are probing the incident. Akasa Air said in a statement, “A passenger travelling on Akasa Air flight QP1625 from Delhi to Goa on March 7 was found smoking in the aircraft lavatory.” The airline’s crew “followed the required protocols” and handed him over to the appropriate authorities upon arrival in Goa.
Middle East war affects flights
Earlier, during the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) advised airlines to avoid the airspaces of 11 countries. Tensions increased in the region after US and Israel jointly conducted raids on Iran on Saturday. Shortly after, Iran too reiterated with several attacks.
Among countries, the DGCA has asked airlines to avoid countriesinclude Iran, Israel, Lebanon, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait and Qatar. While many airspaces have already shut down due to the prevailing crisis, several airlines in India have also suspended their services to the Middle East.
