New Delhi: In Zuffenhausen, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche is quite legendary. He is known as the father of 911, and was behind bringing the likes of 904
Carrera GTS and 804 Formula One car as well. In honour of his 90th birthday, Porsche have unveiled a special tribute to the man.
It is called the 911 GT2 F.A. Porsche and takes inspiration from the G-Body 911 that Ferdinand drove throughout the 1980s. It comes with F.A. Green metallic paint, a modern interpretation of the Oak Green metallic of his original car. On the inside, the custom cabin comes trimmed with a unique fabric called F.A. Grid-Weave, a fresh interpretation of classic houndstooth, and there’s even a wooden shift knob.

The GT3 is also the first and only model that gets Porsche’s Sport Classic wheels, along with custom centre caps with the classic Porsche crest. There is also a “72” roundel on each of the door panels, also is a tribute to the year Ferdinand founded Porsche Design. There is also a special gold badging that adorns the back decklid with a “90” badge sitting right above it.

Based on the 911 GT3 with Touring Package, it comes with with naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat six that makes 502 bhp and 448 Nm of torque. It will send the power to the back wheels with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Porsche will bring only 90 examples, and every car gets a matching Chronograph 1 timepiece and coordinated Weekender travel bag. One of the cars is going to Ferdinand’s son, Mark Porsche, who was a guide in the project from the start till the end and believes his father would be pleased with the result.
