New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across several parts of India on Tuesday,
August 25. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are among the regions likely to see wet and stormy conditions.
The weather department has also warned of intense rainfall in some areas. Strong winds could reach up to 75 kmph in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and 70 kmph in Himachal Pradesh. The IMD has cautioned that vulnerable hilly areas could face flash floods, landslides and mudslides.
Delhi-NCR, UP and Bihar
Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram could experience rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds. The weather may affect visibility and travel conditions in parts of the National Capital Region.
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Jhansi and Sonbhadra, are also likely to receive rainfall and thunderstorms.
Bihar remains under a heavy rain and thunderstorm warning for August 25, with districts including Patna, Lakhisarai, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Darbhanga and Buxar likely to see unsettled weather. Winds may reach around 50 kmph in affected areas.
MP, Rajasthan and Himalayan states
Madhya Pradesh is likely to see very heavy rain in several districts, along with thunderstorms and strong winds. The IMD warning covers areas including Narsinghpur, Ujjain, Dhar, Khandwa, Mandla and Narmadapuram.
Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand could also experience heavy rain and thunderstorms. Strong winds are expected in parts of these regions, while the hilly terrain remains vulnerable to rain-related incidents.
Rajasthan may also see rain and thunderstorms in several districts, although the intensity is expected to vary across the state.
Odisha, Kerala And Eastern India
Odisha is likely to continue receiving heavy rain through August 26. Kerala will also see unsettled weather, with rainfall activity continuing in parts of the state.
The IMD expects fairly widespread rainfall over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim through August 28. Jharkhand is also likely to receive widespread rain during the period.
With heavy rain forecast in several regions, residents in vulnerable areas are advised to remain alert and follow local weather and administration advisories.
