New Delhi: Kawasaki India has extended its ongoing discount push to the Z650 and Z650RS. After announcing price cuts on the Ninja and Versys range earlier
this month, the company is now offering reduced prices on its two 650cc naked motorcycles as well. These offers are valid only till January 31 and apply exclusively to MY25-manufactured units.
In terms of competition, the Z650 and Z650RS sit in a fairly unique position. At their current prices, there are very few direct rivals offering a twin-cylinder engine below the 100 hp mark. Many competing models in the middleweight category have moved up to larger 750cc or 800cc engines, making the Kawasaki 650s a relatively rare option for riders looking for a simpler, mid-capacity naked motorcycle.
Kawasaki Z650 and Z650RS: New price
The Kawasaki Z650 now comes with a price cut of Rs 27,000. After this reduction, its ex-showroom price stands at Rs 6.99 lakh, placing it just under the Rs 7 lakh mark. The retro-styled Z650RS has received a smaller discount of Rs 20,000, bringing its new ex-showroom price down to Rs 7.63 lakh. Buyers interested in either motorcycle should get in touch with their nearest authorised Kawasaki dealership, as availability may depend on existing stock.
Kawasaki Z650 and Z650RS: Powertrain
Mechanically, both motorcycles remain unchanged. The Z650 and Z650RS use the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. This motor is E20 fuel compliant and produces 68 hp and 64 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox, which also comes with a slip and assist clutch as standard.
One technical detail that sets these bikes apart is their 180-degree crankshaft design. Most modern twin-cylinder motorcycles in this segment use a 270-degree firing order to replicate the feel and sound of a V-twin engine. Kawasaki has chosen a different approach, resulting in a smoother and more traditional twin-cylinder character.
With these limited-period discounts, the Z650 range becomes slightly more accessible for buyers considering a middleweight naked bike without stepping into higher-capacity territory.
