New Delhi: The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will make its debut in India in April 2026. It has been one of the most anticipated cars from the German brand in India.
Previously, it was available with the internal combustion engine powertrain and was discontinued in 2020. The nameplate will replace the A-Class saloon car, along with EQA and EQB eSUVs, in the country.
In terms of powertrain, the India-spec Mercedes-Benz CLA EV battery details are yet to be confirmed. In the international market, it comes in two trims, CLA 250+ and CLA 350. An 85 kWh battery pack powers both, but the CLA 250+ is a rear-mounted motor making 268 bhp and 335 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 792 km. The CLA 350 is much more powerful, coming with dual motors, with an all-wheel-drive setup with a combined 349 bhp and 515 Nm of torque.

Outside, the CLA EV comes with a sleek, modern design with clear EV-inspired elements. The front has a closed-off grille in gloss black flanked with illuminated tristar elements. The twin-pod LED headlights, a familiar Mercedes-Benz signature, are connected with a thin LED light strip for a wide and modern appearance. There is also a similar LED strip linking the taillights at the back, making it look quite clean in terms of elements.
You have an aerodynamic design with flush door handles, and the saloon can be had with a choice of 17-19-inch aerodynamically made alloy wheels. Black cladding, along with the lower body, adds contrast to it.
In the international market, the CLA EV comes with a twin-screen layout as standard, pairing a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a large 14-inch central infotainment display. It also comes with an option for an additional touchscreen for the front passenger. The cabin comes with a three-spoke steering wheel with touch-operated controls, and carbon-fibre trim fills the centre console to make it look very sporty.

Standard features include electrically adjustable and heated front seats with memory function, a fixed panoramic glass roof and automatic climate control, while optional upgrades include a 16-speaker Burmester audio system, a head-up display, a dedicated 14-inch passenger screen and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Safety suites include eight airbags, a 360-degree camera system with blind-spot monitoring, Level 2 ADAS, tyre-pressure monitoring and an electronic parking brake. The CLA received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2025. In India, it will be priced in the Rs 60 lakh ballpark and will be competing with the likes of Tesla Model Y and Kia EV6.
