New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday hit out at the Opposition over the recent ‘public impeachment’ event against Chief Election Commissioner
(CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. He observed that the opposition staged a ‘mock parliament’ and said that the government was ready to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the matter with the Opposition.
Slamming the Congress, Shah said that the grand old party always supported unconstitutional governments and parallel parliaments.
‘Cong always supported unconstitutional govts’
“The Congress party has always supported unconstitutional governments and parallel parliaments. By creating a fake parliament and staging a charade of a debate, they have made a mockery of the real Parliament. Rahul Gandhi, I want to tell you that the Narendra Modi government is ready to discuss any issue,” the home minister said.
He added, “We are even prepared to call a special session for such a discussion. You have brought Parliament to a standstill; in a sense, you have held it hostage. Now, allow Parliament to function and let a proper debate take place. The people of the country will then see for themselves who is speaking the truth and who is not.”
24 hours have passed: Rahul Gandhi
Meanwhile, issuing a video, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, shared a new video on social media, saying, “24 hours have passed, PM Modi. I challenged you. You say that the opposition is anti-national. Pick any stage, any venue, and debate me. Who is the anti-national? Who has connections with foreign forces? And what kind of connections are they? Do it as soon as possible—don’t be afraid”.
“We will both be there. The media will be there. The youth of the country will be there; there’ll be a table, you’ll sit on one side, I’ll sit on the other. Whoever you want to appoint as judge, go ahead. Put Mohan Bhagwat ji in the chair, come on. And then we will debate. Questions will come up about the financial system, the financial structure, how the US deal happened, why it happened, why so quickly, why you did it alone, why you didn’t tell the Cabinet, why the Adani case was closed, Epstein—there are so many things like that on which we’ll have an open discussion.”
