New Delhi: Pacer Harshit Rana was at his best as he registered his career-best figures to restrict Australia to a moderate total of 236 runs in thethird
and final ODI in Sydney. After Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh added 61 runs for the opening wicket, Indian bowlers swung into action picking wickets at regular intervals to restrict Australia.
Rana registered figures of 4/39 in 8.4 overs, his best in his ODI career, picking wickets of Alex Carey, Mitchell Owen, Cooper Connolly and Josh Hazlewood at last to play an impactful role in the final ODI game. While the pacer came up with an average effort in the opening two matches but created full impact with his ball proving to be economical as well.
India deliver all-round bowling effort
Along with Rana, all the other bowlers contributed in the bowling with Washington Sundar claiming two scalps, while Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna claiming one wicket apiece. Kuldeep and Krishna, who played for the first time in the series, bowled beautifully at the SCG to push the Aussie batters against the wall.
For the Australian side, Matt Renshaw was the highest run-scorer with 56 runs while skipper Mitchell Marsh scored 41 runs after Australia opted to bat first on Saturday. Head scored quick 29 runs but failed to convert his score into a big innings while Matthew Short added 30 runs. Cooper Connolly and Alex Carey contributed 23 and 24 runs respectively while rest of batters found it hard to score in front of a disciplined Indian bowling.
With the score being a moderate one, it should not be a problem for India to chase the total and deny the Australian side a series sweep. On the other hand, the hosts would try their level best to clean sweep the visitors showcasing their absolute command in their own territory.
