New Delhi: Google is pushing deeper into exam preparation for Indian students. After introducing free SAT practice tests on Gemini earlier this month,
the company has now launched full-length JEE Main mock tests powered by its AI model, Gemini.
The announcement was made during the India AI Summit 2026, where Google highlighted how India has emerged as the largest market for Gemini usage in learning. With competitive exam fees and coaching costs rising every year, the move could reshape how students prepare for one of India’s toughest entrance tests.
Google brings JEE Main practice tests to Gemini
Google says students can now take full-length JEE Main practice tests directly inside Gemini, and soon through AI Mode in Search as well.
In its blog post, Google said, “We’re launching full-length practice tests for JEE Main on Gemini, and soon in AI Mode in Search too.”
The company added that the tests are based on vetted content from PhysicsWallah and Careers360, two well-known education platforms in India.
To start a test, students simply need to type or say, “I want to take a JEE Main mock test.”
Once the test is completed, Gemini gives instant feedback, showing where the student performed well and where they need more revision. Google noted, “When you complete a practice test in Gemini, you’ll receive immediate feedback highlighting where you excelled and where you might need to study more.”
Students can also ask Gemini to explain answers step by step if something is unclear.
How the feature helps students
The new JEE mock test feature goes beyond just giving questions. Google says the goal is to turn feedback into action.
By identifying knowledge gaps, Gemini can help create a customised study plan. The tests are also available in multiple languages, making them accessible to a wider group of learners.
This mirrors Google’s earlier SAT prep launch. At that time, CEO Sundar Pichai wrote, “Helpful update for students, you can now take full practice SATs for free in the Gemini app. It uses vetted content from The Princeton Review and gives you feedback straight away. Starting with the SAT today, but more tests are on the way.”
JEE now becomes part of that expanding list.
More AI tools for classrooms and teachers
Google also announced new education-focused AI tools.
Teachers can now use the Google Classroom app in Gemini to draft assignments and summarise student progress using class-specific context. Google said these tools help teachers move beyond paperwork and focus more on personalised learning.
Some AI features in Gmail and Slides, like email summarisation and image generation, are also becoming more accessible across Google’s education editions.
India leads Gemini usage for learning
During the summit, Google revealed that India tops global usage of Gemini for learning, covering both real-world problems and exam preparation.
For many students, especially those who cannot afford expensive coaching, free AI-based mock tests could become an important support tool. It does not replace hard work or teachers. But it adds another option in the growing digital study toolkit.
