New Delhi: Riteish Deshmukh’s ‘Raja Shivaji’ has emerged as a landmark film for Marathi cinema, becoming the highest-grossing Marathi movie of all time.
The historical action drama, directed by and starring Deshmukh, explores the early years of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his journey towards establishing Swarajya.

Made on an estimated budget of Rs 75 crore, ‘Raja Shivaji’ became one of the most expensive Marathi films ever produced.
The film reportedly crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, becoming the first Marathi film to achieve the milestone.
Its worldwide collection went beyond Rs 130 crore, while it also recorded the biggest opening weekend in Marathi cinema history with over Rs 43 crore earned in the first three days.
The film surpassed the previous Marathi box office benchmark set by the 2016 blockbuster ‘Sairat’.
