New Delhi: Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game has achieved a major milestone even before reaching theatres. The upcoming Malayalam film has reportedly secured
a Rs 12.5 crore music rights deal with Zee Music, making it the biggest such deal in Malayalam cinema so far.
The development comes less than a week before the film’s worldwide theatrical release on September 3. Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, who previously helmed RDX, I’m Game is being mounted as a fantasy action thriller and marks Dulquer’s 40th film as an actor.
I’m Game’s buzz
The film’s music, composed by Jakes Bejoy, has been gaining attention ahead of its release. The soundtrack includes Mazhavillaye and Loser, with the latter featuring Dulquer as a singer along with rap portions by Reble and Neeraj Madhav.
Dulquer performed Loser live at the film’s pre-release and music launch event on Saturday at the KINFRA International Exhibition Centre in Kakkanad. The event drew thousands of fans and also featured performances by Vedan, Zeba Tommy, Armaan Malik and Jakes Bejoy.
About Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game
I’m Game revolves around Dan John, played by Dulquer, a gambler who approaches the game differently from those who depend entirely on luck. Instead, he develops an algorithm-based system to calculate his moves.
His strategy appears to work until circumstances begin turning against him, setting off a series of unexpected events and pushing the story into its fantasy-action territory.
Nahas has provided the story, while Sajeer Baba, Ismail Aboobacker and Bilal Moidu have written the screenplay. The dialogues have been penned by Sajeer Baba, Adarsh Sukumaran and Shabas Rasheed.
Dulquer’s I’m Game gets a multilingual release
I’m Game is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on September 3. The film will release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
Dulquer is also backing the project as producer along with Jom Varghese under their Wayfarer Films banner.
The film features Antony Varghese, Tamil actor-filmmaker Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Parth Tiwari and Samyuktha Viswanathan alongside Dulquer.
The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres on August 20 as an Onam release. It was expected to arrive alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa and Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
With its new September 3 release date and the reported record music deal, I’m Game now heads into its theatrical run with considerable attention surrounding Dulquer’s ambitious project.
