Bengaluru: Bengaluru witnessed heavy rain last evening, causing waterlogging across the city. This led to the collection of rainwater and sewage water,
causing slow traffic movement and making it difficult for commuters to reach their destinations on time, even on Thursday morning.
Many people, while going to their offices this morning, shared clips of waterlogging. They also shared photos of long traffic queues and vehicles moving on roads through tough conditions. The Bengaluru Traffic Police had issued an advisory at 11:04 PM last evening on possible disruptions due to the possible heavy rainfall. The police also asked bikers to be careful.
Bengaluru Traffic Police issues advisory
It asked people not to block underpasses while standing under them during rainfall. The traffic police also urged the people to use the BTP ASTraM App and Bengaluru Traffic Police social media platforms to check the latest updates on traffic movements.
Users took to social media over waterlogging
People took to social media to comment on waterlogging in the city. One of the users wrote on X, “We need Coffee as a Service on Roads of Bengaluru with the pouring rains and traffic jams. As for the fav coffee shop used to like Hatti Kaapi when they had started- of late like in IDC on Residency Road”. “Dear Bengalureans, next time you vote for religion, please remember even God will not save you from the roads, especially during the rains,” another added.
One user wrote, “Many people always ask same question. Why does Bengaluru have more rain in September and October than Monsoon months? September & October for Bengaluru is like what June & July for Mumbai, peak rainfall months!! Bengaluru’s iconic and powerful thunderstorms result in heavy rains in a short time frame. Bengaluru falls in a rain shadow region the city gets passing showers during Monsoon months.”
