Bengaluru: As the Dasara festival approaches in Mysuru, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) said on Monday that bus fares between Bengaluru and
Mysuru will be higher than usual. The price will go up by Rs 20 to Rs 30 for express, non-stop, and premium buses.
The KSRTC shared that this fare hike is not new and has been followed for the last 20 years during certain festival days to cover extra costs. The transport body also mentioned that the Government of Karnataka allows such fare changes during festivals, holidays, or other special times.
Hiked fare to remain in effect till Oct 8
In a statement, KSRTC explained that many buses only travel one way during this period, and fewer passengers travel back. Since these special buses are taken from other areas, the cost of running them becomes higher. That is why they need to charge more.
For the 2025 Dasara season, the increased prices will be in effect from September 26 to October 8. Express, non-stop, and premium buses will have additional charges of Rs 20 and Rs 30.
KSRTC wins 9 national awards at communication event
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) received national recognition by winning awards in nine different areas at the 15th Global Communication Conclave and Excellence Awards 2025. This event was organized by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI).
As per KSRTC, the transport company won two gold awards — one for Digital Media Innovation and another for their printed regional magazine. They also received a silver award for a film on health communication. A bronze award was given for a unique effort in human resources (HR).
KSRTC also received awards in other categories like excellent customer service, website and microsite design, corporate films, marketing efforts, and internal communication. A KSRTC representative said, “These awards show that KSRTC is doing well at the national level by using new technology, creative ideas, and strong communication methods.”
