New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and heavy to very heavy precipitation across
several states, between September 8 to September 14. Heavy rains are expected to hit, the eastern, Central and also the peninsular parts of the country and isolated rains and gusty winds are expected in isolated parts of Northwest and West India.
Meanwhile, the coastal areas of Kerala will see hot and humid weather for a brief period, reported india.com quoting the weather department.
Weather forecast for different states
In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, fairly widespread rains are expected on Wednesday, September 9. The rains would be accompanied by thunderstorms and would continue till at least September 14, said the weather department. Heavy rains are expected to hit Uttarakhand between September 10 to September 14.
In Western Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms are expected between September 10 to September 14. Heavy rains are predicted for East and West Madhya Pradesh on September 12 and September 13.
In Chhattisgarh heavy rains are possible between September 10 to September 14. The Vidarbha region will witness isolated rains between September 8 to September 14. Heavy rains are expected in the region on September 12.
Widespread rains are expected to hit West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Island, between September 8 to September 14, said the IMD. Most parts of east India would see heavy rainfall and very heavy rains are expected to hit Odisha on September 10, they added. They further said that severe lightning is possible in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on September 8.
In the Konkan coast, Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, fairly widespread rains might occur between September 8 to September 14, said scientists at the weather office. Isolated heavy rains are possible in these parts of the country on 2 days, i.e. September 12 and 13.
In Gujarat and Marathwada region isolated, scattered rains with thunderstorms are expected between September 8 to September 14. Heavy rains are possible in Gujarat on September 12-13, added IMD.
In Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Telangana, fairly widespread rains might occur between September 10 to September 14, said scientists. Heavy rains are expected to hit Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana between September 10 to 14.
