New Delhi: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has been drawn into a fresh discussion surrounding the Mundhwa land deal case. An RTI activist claimed that the main
accused had previously filed a civil lawsuit against him over a luxury apartment in Pune.
The claim was made by activist Vijay Kumbhar through a social media post on Tuesday (December 9), linking the ongoing land dispute to an older legal matter involving the actor.
Ranbir Kapoor dragged into Mundhwa land case
According to the activist, Sheetal Tejwani had filed a civil suit against Ranbir in 2018 over a flat located at Trump Towers in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area. It was alleged that the case involved a claim of Rs 50.40 lakh and is still pending before the court. Vijay stated that the Brahmastra actor may not even be aware of the number of civil cases Sheetal has been involved in, adding that the matter remains stuck at the evidence stage, with the next hearing listed for January 5, 2026.
The lawsuit was reportedly initiated over a rental dispute. It was claimed that Sheetal had taken Ranbir’s apartment on a leave and licence basis. She later accused him of failing to honour the lock-in period mentioned in the agreement. Damages and interest were reportedly sought after she was allegedly evicted before the agreed term ended. The case is expected to be taken up by a Pune court in January next year.
Why was Shital Tejwani arrested?
The resurfacing of the old lawsuit comes amid Sheetal’s arrest in a much larger controversy. She was taken into custody on December 3 in connection with the Mundhwa land deal case, which involves a 40-acre land parcel and a firm linked to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar. It has been alleged that she entered into an agreement to sell the land to Amadea Enterprises LLP and held power of attorney in the transaction.
After her arrest, she was produced before a Pune court and remanded to police custody until December 11. The case has drawn widespread political and public attention due to the high-profile names involved and the scale of the alleged irregularities.
Ranbir Kapoor has not commented on the revived discussion around the 2018 civil suit yet.
