New Delhi: Patanjali founder Swami Ramdev advises practicing yoga and adopting Ayurvedic methods to keep the body healthy. He is called India’s Yoga Guru.
Baba Ramdev says that if you want to keep your body naturally healthy even in old age, you should practice yoga every day. He is credited with giving a new identity to Yoga in India. Several videos of him are available on social media in which he can be seen suggesting home remedies for various diseases or health problems. In one video, he is explaining ways to naturally reduce the symptoms of aggravated rheumatism.
According to him, if the Vata dosha increases, several health problems such as joint pain, indigestion, body tremors, and tingling in the fingers can occur at a young age. Let’s see what home remedies Baba Ramdev suggests to treat Vata disease.
What is Vata Dosha?
Vata dosha is an energy in the body that is composed of air and space. It controls our physical and mental movements, communication, breathing, and nervous system. If this dosha is imbalanced, it negatively affects both the mind and the body.
The biggest reason for Vata dosha getting imbalanced is wrong food habits. If you consume a lot of cold food, stale food, raw vegetables, tea and coffee, and eat late at night, an imbalance of Vata dosha is inevitable. Furthermore, a poor lifestyle also makes us susceptible to various illnesses.
Habits such as sleeping and waking up late, and sitting in the same place for long periods, aggravate Vata disorders. Mental factors such as worry, fear, stress, anxiety, and overthinking are also responsible for this.
How to reduce Vata disease: Baba Ramdev’s advice
Baba Ramdev says that if the Vata dosha increases in the body, one should follow a proper diet and natural treatments to balance it. If your joint pain worsens, drink fresh juice of aloe vera, giloy, parijat, or moringa. In addition, you can also try home remedies involving turmeric, fenugreek, dry ginger, and carom seeds.
Aloe vera is full of antibacterial properties. In addition, carom seeds, turmeric, and fenugreek seeds also possess Ayurvedic properties. They contain antioxidants that strengthen the body’s immune system.
Swami Ramdev says that people who suffer from an increase in Vata dosha should take special precautions regarding their diet. Sour and cold foods increase the Vata dosha. Therefore, foods like cauliflower, bottle gourd juice, yogurt, amla, and cucumber increase Vata (the air element in Ayurveda).
If you eat these, consume them in moderation. Swami Ramdev says that bottle gourd vegetable and its soup do not aggravate Vata dosha. According to Swamiji, diet is the best medicine.
Kitchen items which come in handy to manage Vata Dosha
The Indian kitchen contains many traditional ingredients that are extremely beneficial for health. Swami Ramdev advises consuming ingredients like turmeric, ginger, basil, cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon to treat Vata imbalance.
In addition, dried ginger, long pepper, black pepper, and Trikatu can also prove useful. Mix turmeric and honey into ginger and basil juice and drink it.This is also an excellent remedy for colds and cough. Swami Ramdev has advised against using lime or tobacco in betel leaf preparations, as it is harmful to health.
