New Delhi: Meta has started rolling out its new AI support assistant across Instagram and Facebook, aiming to change how users deal with account issues.
The company says the tool is now available globally and works across mobile apps and desktop Help Centers.
The rollout comes as Meta focuses on reducing user friction in account recovery and support processes, an area that has long seen delays and complaints. The company is positioning the AI assistant as a faster and more direct alternative to traditional help systems, with the ability to respond quickly and handle requests in real time.
Meta AI assistant now handles support tasks directly
The new Meta AI support assistant is designed to offer 24/7 help. It does not just answer questions, it can also take action on certain requests.
Meta says, “The new Meta AI support assistant is designed to help resolve account problems for you from start to finish.”
Users can now reset passwords, update profile details, manage privacy settings, report scams or impersonation accounts, and also understand why content was removed and track appeals.
The assistant is built into the apps, so users can access help instantly. Meta says responses can come in under five seconds, which is much faster than traditional support systems.
AI also gets bigger role in content moderation
Alongside support, Meta is expanding the use of AI in content enforcement. The company says these systems are already showing results in early tests.
According to Meta, AI tools are now able to detect around 5,000 scam attempts daily that were earlier missed. They have also reduced impersonation cases involving celebrities by over 80 percent.
The systems can also catch more harmful content like scams and illegal activity, reduce mistakes in moderation decisions, and identify suspicious account activity such as sudden login changes.
Meta says these AI models now work across languages spoken by 98 percent of internet users, improving global coverage.
What changes for users in the coming years
Meta plans to expand these AI systems further over the next few years. The company says it will rely more on internal AI tools and reduce dependence on third-party moderation teams.
At the same time, Meta maintains that humans will still be involved in important decisions. Complex cases, appeals, and high-risk actions will continue to need human review.
