New Delhi: Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is reportedly heading to the OTT platform nearly a month after its theatrical release. The gangster
drama, which hit cinemas on August 26, could make its digital debut on ZEE5 on September 25.
However, the reported OTT date is yet to be officially confirmed by the makers or the streaming platform. If the date goes ahead, audiences will soon be able to watch the film from home.
Toxic OTT release date
According to a report by 123Telugu, Toxic is expected to premiere on ZEE5 on September 25. The film is also expected to be available in multiple languages. The Yash-led film had its theatrical release on August 26. With the reported September 25 OTT premiere, the movie would arrive on streaming platforms roughly a month after its cinema release.
For now, viewers will have to wait for an official announcement from ZEE5 or the makers before the streaming date is confirmed.
What happened to Toxic’s OTT deal?
The film’s digital release has also been the subject of speculation following reports about its OTT rights. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, a major streaming platform had reportedly offered around Rs 150 crore for the digital rights. However, the makers were said to be seeking a deal worth more than Rs 200 crore. Reports later suggested that negotiations became difficult after Toxic failed to perform as expected in theatres, with streaming platforms reportedly lowering their offers.
There has also been speculation that the makers could opt for a different cut of the film for its OTT release. No official information has been shared about whether the streaming version will have any changes.
