The ePlane Company is building India’s first electric air taxi. The startup has joined hands with NVIDIA to develop the e-air taxi – e200x. The firm is using
Nvidia’s Omniverse Software to construct a highly detailed ‘digital twin’ of the air taxi.
The NVIDIA software comes as a boon as it will allow the engineers of the startup to test flight physics, sensors and emergency scenarios in a virtual world before the real aircraft takes off.

The specifications of ePlane Company’s e-air taxi – e200x:
It will have a Footprint of 8 x 10 metre, which will allow it to optimise urban space for seamless landing and takeoff.
The air taxi will have a range of 110 kms for versatile commuting and logistics options without frequent recharging.
The air taxi will fly at a speed of speed 160 kmph, ensuring quick and efficient travel for passengers and cargo.
It will able able to carry 1 Pilot + 2 PAX / 200 kgs
The ePlane Company’s collab with NVIDIA will help the startup get access to technology which could be used to process continuous streams of data from integrated cameras and radars. It will help the e-air taxi to make autonomous, real-time decisions essential for passenger safety.

The ePlane Company, incubated at IIT Madras, is the first private Indian company to Design Organisation Approval (DoA) from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for an electric aircraft. The e200X’s type certification is already under progress since December 2024.
Once operational, the e-taxi would revolutionise travel within the urban areas as the all-electric model would ensure zero pollution, and air mobility will mean no traffic hassles.
