Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy clarified that there is no shortage of LPG cooking gas. He held a review meeting via video conference with
district collectors, police officials to review LPG supply, summer drinking water preparedness and implementation of 99-day Praja Palana-Pragati Pranalika Programme.
He said that there is no shortage of cooking gas in the state and directed officials to take measures to ensure that domestic gas consumers do not face any confusion or anxiety.
“Officials must remain vigilant and work to dispel any misconceptions prevailing among the public. Strict action should be taken against black-marketing activities,” he said.
Panic buying cripples booking system, minister asks to enforce booking intervals:
Meanwhile, an increase in panic buying has led to collapse of the refill booking system at many distribution points across Telangana.
The minister said in the review meeting that revised booking intervals must be enforced to prevent diversion of domestic cooking gas for commercial purposes. The state govt has aligned with the national guidelines, setting a minimum booking gap at 25 days for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers.
Coordination committees have been set upat both district and state levels. The LPG supply coordination panel will monitor real-time stock, distribution and compliance across the state. At the district level, committees led by district collectors will conduct daily reviews, enforce booking rules and address local grievances.
A mandate has been issued for zero shortages for hospitals, schools, orphanages and old age homes.
Telangana Chief Secretary reviews stock:
Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao reviewed LPG stock, supply and distribution with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and civil supplies officials at BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Friday afternoon.
The chief secretary directed daily monitoring, actions against black- marketing and timely deliveries across rural and urban areas of the state.
Officials said there are enough LPG stocks available, with 810 distributorships supplying cylinders statewide. A discussion was held on LPG supply, storage levels, transportation systems and future demand.
Officials assured that the state has 1.29 crore LPG connections and enough stock is available to meet demand.
