New Delhi: Carmakers have started lining up the annual New Year price surge, partly counterbalancing the GST relief buyers had enjoyed from September.
The hikes, which usually arrive at the start of the calendar year, will come into effect from January 1st 2026. In September, following GST revisions, there was a substantial price drop across several luxury brands as well, with BMW models becoming cheaper by as far as Rs 13.6 lakh and some Mercedes-Benz cars saw price cuts of up to Rs 25 lakh.
The upcoming hikes are comparatively moderate and mainly coming into effect due to higher input and currency costs. The carmakers that have announced include premium luxury carmakers, new entrants in the markets and many more. Here are the carmakers who have confirmed the pricing surge for next year.
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Mercedes-Benz have confirmed that they will increase ex-showroom price by 2 per cent across their portfolio from January 1st, 2026. The German brand pointed to higher input and logistics costs, along with an unfavourable euro-rupee exchange rate as well. Mercedes are also considering a per cent hike every quarter for the next year to better manage to present scenario.
For cars like the E-Class, prices will go up by Rs 1.57 lakh to 1.83 lakh, which is lower than the Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 5.25 lakh price cut owing to GST.
BMW
BMW had increased their prices by 3 per cent in September 2025, and will be coming with another hike on January 1st, 2026. The brand have said that this was due to higher material and logistical costs and the falling Indian rupee that impacts the foreign exchange. The revisions will be for both CKD and CBU models. The 3 per cent hike for a 3 Series is going to be around Rs 1.81 lakh and Rs 1.85 lakh, and is lower than Rs 3.45 lakh to Rs 3.55 lakh from before.
MG Motor
MG Motor have announced a price revision of close to 2 per cent across their portfolio, coming in effect from January 1st, 2026. The brand said the increase was owing to higher input and production costs. Further, there were prevailing macroeconomic challenges, and the price revision will impact MG’s petrol, diesel, and electric vehicles.
Among EVs, the Windsor EV is expected to see a hike between Rs 30,000 to Rs 37,000, and the ex-showroom prices would now be around Rs 14.27 lakh to Rs 18.76 lakh. Even the Comet EV are likely to surge by Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, with prices now likely falling between Rs 7.64 lakh and Rs 10.19 lakh.
BYD
BYD Sealion 7
BYD have announced that they will be increasing the price of Sealion 7 from January 1st, 2026 and till December 31st of this year, customers will be buying it at the current price. The brand haven’t given the reason for the price revision or by how much it will be revised.
Nissan
Nissan have confirmed a price increase of around 3 per cent across their range from January 2026. The announcement comes with the launch of the brand’s upcoming compact MPV, the Gravite, which is scheduled to arrive at dealerships by March of next year.
Through GST rate revision, the Nissan Magnite benefited from a significant price reduction of Rs 52,000 to Rs 1 lakh, which made the prices go down to Rs 5.62 lakh–Rs 10.76 lakh. However, from January, the Magnite is expected to become costlier by around Rs 17,000 to Rs 32,000.
Honda
Honda have announced that they will be implementing a price revision from January 2026, citing the constant pressure from the rising input costs. However, the Japanese brand haven’t given details on how much the pricing is going to increase.
