New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several states in India and light rains are expected in the rest
of the country on Thursday. The weather department has said that East Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Punjab will witness mild to heavy rains in the coming week.
Apart from this, Delhi-NCR is likely to see cloudy skies and pleasant weather in the coming week.
Rain alert for several states in India
The IMD said that Uttarakhand is expected to get heavy rains between September 10 to September 13. In Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab, heavy rains are expected on September 14 and September 15, they added.
Similarly widespread rains are possible in Himachal Pradesh on September 14-15, said scientists at the weather department. In certain areas of Uttarakhand also, widespread rainfall is expected between September 11 to September 14. Rains in the hill state of Uttarakhand will be accompanied by thunderstorms and lighting.
Thunderstorms are possible in East UP on September 9-10. Light to moderate rains are predicted for East UP, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab between September 9 to 15. In West UP, light rains are possible between September 11 to 15.
In West Rajasthan, light to moderate rains might happen between September 12 to September 15. Similarly the eastern part of the state will witness light rains between September 11 to 15.
Thunderstorms and strong winds are possible in Gangetic West Bengal on September 10-11, in Odisha between September 11 to September 13 and in Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim between September 10 to September 13.
Light to moderate rains are also possible in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha for 3 days, starting September 13, said the IMD. In Bihar light to moderate rains are possible between September 10 to September 15.
Heavy rains are predicted for Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Kutch for 2 days, September 13-14. Similar weather is likely in the Marathwada region between September 12 to 13.
Widespread rains are predicted for Konkan and Goa between September 10 to September 15. Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch will also witness widespread rains on different days in the coming week.
