New Delhi: The Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF), the charitable arm of Yash Raj Films, is opening new doors for the children of Hindi cinema’s workforce by
broadening the scope of its scholarship initiative.
For the 2026–27 academic year, 11 students have been chosen from a pool of over 300 applicants through a selection process based on academic merit and financial need. Each recipient is eligible for educational assistance of up to ₹5 lakh.
In a significant development, the program has moved beyond its traditional focus on film, media and creative studies to include disciplines such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, IT, Management, Law and Medicine. This also marks the first time the Foundation has awarded scholarships to students pursuing Robotics and technology-oriented education.
The beneficiaries include Aryan Singh, Asma Choudhary, Jaid Kalim, Jay Jangam, Nidhi Yadav, Pranjal Kapure, Prathamesh Karanjolkar, Rudra Damle, Sachin Vishwakarma, Uzma Khan and Valencia Madhura.
Speaking about the initiative, Yash Raj Films CEO Akshaye Widhani emphasised the Foundation’s commitment to creating educational opportunities for the families of film industry workers. He also acknowledged the importance of adapting the program to accommodate students’ diverse ambitions and the increasing relevance of technology across industries.
The initiative carries forward Yash Chopra’s legacy of supporting the film fraternity by investing in the education of children whose parents work behind the camera, including technicians, lighting crews, spot boys and daily-wage workers.
With its expanded scholarship program, YCF aims to help the next generation pursue their professional ambitions across both traditional and emerging fields.
