Mumbai: The people of Mumbai may get respite from extreme heatwave soon. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city may witness change
in weather today with just days left for the monsoon to arrive in the city.
As per the weather department, the Mumbai sky may remain partly cloudy in the city as well as the suburbs. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city is expected to be between 34 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively, across the day.
Heatwave across Maharashtra
In recent times, the heatwave has spread considerably in the state. According to the weather department, the temperature across many districts reached above 40 degrees Celsius. Among all areas, Vidarbha was hit the hardest. Many districts in the region recorded over 45 degrees Celsius. The region may not get any relief as of now.
Notably, the temperature in the region may increase further in the coming days. The heatwave in the region has impacted normal life. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature reached a record high.
Wardha recorded 47.1 degree Celsius
A maximum temperature of 47.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Wardha. Among other areas, people in Nagpur too experienced hottest day in the month of ‘May’ since last ten years. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a red alert for three districts of Vidarbha as well as an orange alert for three districts.
The department has also advised people to venture out only in case of necessity. Chandrapur district has also experienced a major heatwave in recent days. While the IMD issued a an ‘Orange Alert’ for Thursday, a ‘Yellow Alert’ has also issued from Friday to Sunday.
