New Delhi: Ending the wait of four years, Yash’s much-anticipated film, Toxic: Fairytale for Grown Ups, is finally set to release in theatres this week.
The film marks return of Yash on the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2 (2022).
The movie is expected to open big at the box office as the advance booking of the film is going phenomenal.

Toxic advance booking sales
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has recorded Rs 43.64 crore (including block seats) in India. Karnataka, Yash’s home state, is leading in Toxic advance booking sales. The Hindi and Kannada versions are minting the most. While Hindi 2D has collected Rs 15.68 crore, Kannada has minted Rs 13.02 crore in pre-sales.
Premium formats have contributed further to the film’s pre-release business with Kannada IMAX 2d adding over Rs 76.43 crore and Hindi IMAX 2D earning around Rs 40 lakh. Meanwhile, Tamil 2D has contributed Rs 1.15 crore, Malayalam 2D has minted Rs 34.29 lakh and Telugu 2D added Rs 28.26 lakh. The Hindi Dolby Cine format has added Rs 1.02 lakh.
Toxic vs KGF: Chapter 2
Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 continues to be the gold standard when it comes to the actor’s opening-day box office. The advance booking touched Rs 80.30 crore. ore than 2.9 million tickets were sold through BookMyShow alone, while the overall pre-release ticket sales across platforms and languages were said to have crossed the 4 million mark.
The advance gross was led by the Hindi version at around Rs 40.65 crore, followed by Kannada at Rs 17.95 crore. The Telugu version contributed approximately Rs 13.80 crore, while Tamil and Malayalam recorded Rs 4.40 crore and Rs 3.50 crore, respectively.
Toxic, however, is building its own momentum ahead of release.
Toxic plot
Toxic: A Fairytale For Grownups is set against the backdrop of 1950s-1970s in the pre-liberation Goa as Portuguese rule weakens. The film follows a man named Raya, who rises through the city’s brutal criminal underworld and drug cartels through violence and betrayal.
Toxic certification and runtime
Toxic has received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film’s runtime is 3 hours and 14 minutes.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash in dual role. It also features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Quereshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, among others. It is produced by Venkat K Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 500 crore, making it one of the most expensive Kannada films.
