New Delhi: The national capital again introduced the nation to a weird service as Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar market allowed shoppers to hire an individual to carry
their bags during market visits. The markets in India are usually crowded, and the lanes are narrow; if any shopper has to visit multiple shops, then it will become hectic for an individual.
A Delhi startup noticed the problem and decided to do something to resolve this. As a result, CarryMen, a shopping assistance service, started its operations in the Lajpat Nagar market.
The idea of the startup is just to assist the shopper by carrying their bags and offering several other options as well. The shoppers can hire an individual for Rs 149 per hour to help them during market visits.
The startup helps the shopper to carry their bags, stand in food queues, escort the customer to the metro station, help them to find seats, assist the customer to parking areas and help find spots to sit and relax.
In Lajpat, you can now pay Rs 149/hr for someone to carry your bags, wait in food queues, walk you to the metro, find you a place to sit, and even set up a foldable chair. Interesting biz!!” a user wrote on social media.
The founders of CarryMen grew up in Delhi and are very much aware of crowded lanes, shopping drains under the weight of bags, long walks, and more. To ease customers with these problems, both founders came up with the idea of CarryMen.
“We wanted shoppers to enjoy the experience instead of worrying about carrying ten bags while eating momo in the middle of a crowded market,” a spokesperson for the startup stated.
What services are offered by CarryMen?
The elderly shoppers are one of the consistent users of the startup, especially women who go to the market to buy clothes, curtains, and household items.
The CarryMen offers a portable camping chair that can be set up as a foldable seat, and if the customer needs a break, the person can sit on the chair in the middle of the market.
Umbrellas for heat and rain, mobile charging support, power banks, and hydration assistance.
The startup completed more than 50 bookings in the first month, and now, with word of mouth and social media interest, the startup is growing rapidly. Now CarryMen is planning to set up its second project in the Chandni Chowk market.
