New Delhi: WhatsApp continues to bridge the feature differences between Android and iOS. The recent beta releases of iOS reveal that the company is introducing
two significant changes to users of iPhones, namely, tools for sending channels to the admins and AI-enhanced image editing of status updates. The two features are already Android tested and are currently coming to iOS in TestFlight.
These improvements emphasise the effort of WhatsApp to grow its creators and emphasise more visual expression. The simplified channel expansion and the inclusion of sophisticated AI tools for daily sharing are making WhatsApp create more of an interactive and creator-friendly platform, particularly for early adopters on iOS.
Channel invite feature rolls out to iOS beta users
The WhatsApp beta on iOS version 25.37.10.74 has changed channel admins now being able to invite contacts to follow their own channels directly. The feature is available in the channel information page, which has an invitation particulars section, where admins can invite individuals in their address book.
Several admins have the option of manually choosing up to 64 contacts. Upon confirmation, WhatsApp prepares a message of invitation automatically. The message has a button which opens an overview of the channel and gives the recipients the chance to follow the channel in real time. It is a very easy and regulated process.
Broadcast-based delivery reduces spam risks
WhatsApp has to do this very quickly; to achieve this, it has created a temporary broadcast list to send these invitations. This will enable one invitation to be dispatched to several contacts without being detected by the spam checkers. Invites will be sent only to those who save the number of the phone of the admin.
This will be done to make sure that invitations are sent to people who are known. It also provides admins with a clear picture of who they are inviting but also makes the experience respectful and non-obstructive to the recipients.
Better channel discovery through trusted contacts
This feature provides a more deliberate means of acquiring followers for channel admins, particularly new ones. Admins are also able to access people who are already familiar with them instead of having to use the public links only.
To the recipient, the invitation is more applicable as it is sent by someone the person trusts. This has the potential to enhance the chances of interaction and assist new avenues to develop an active following early on.
AI-powered image tools arrive in status updates
In another update, WhatsApp beta 25.37.10.73 is available on iOS, which offers AI-based Imagine features on status updates. These tools make Meta AI a part of the status editor, enabling one to edit the picture without exiting the application.
The redesigned interface with AI options below existing filters is displayed. Now users have access to highly sophisticated visual effects and the ability to edit image components or entirely rethink a picture when creating a status post.
Creative styles, prompts and image animation
The AI editor has several styles, which include Anime, Comic Book, Painting, 3D, Clay and Video Game. With the help of AI, the generation of these styles is performed, not by using filters. Users have a Redo option to regenerate results that allow the attainment of improved results.
Users are also able to add or delete objects, augment details or even transform images using brief textual prompts. The moveable images will be more impactful, as a new animation component will transform photos into brief moving images.
The two features are already in the hands of a limited number of beta testers via TestFlight. In other instances, they will also be able to be viewed by a few stable users of the App Store. Depending on the region and account, it is available or not.
WhatsApp is implementing these changes in phases in order to check on performance and feedback. In future updates, broader availability should be anticipated since testing is ongoing.
