Jaipur: The National Testing Agency has announced a fresh examination for 49 AIAPGET candidates after a power failure disrupted the first shift at an examination centre
in Jaipur on Saturday. The power failure occurred at Shri Satya Sai PG College at around 10.20 am during the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test. A generator restored electricity later, but 49 candidates could not complete the examination. The affected candidates will now appear for a re-examination in Jaipur on September 1, the NTA said.
Outage disrupts first shift
According to the candidates, the sudden power failure affected the computer-based examination and caused confusion inside the centre. The examination authorities later switched on a generator and gave candidates additional time. However, several students said the extra time did not resolve their concerns about the fairness of the examination.
Some candidates alleged that students discussed questions during the power outage. They claimed the disruption had created conditions that allowed cheating. The candidates demanded that the first-shift examination at the affected centre be cancelled and held again.
NTA shares exam data
The NTA said 36,979 candidates had registered for the first shift of AIAPGET on August 22. Of them, 35,837 appeared for the examination at 200 centres across the country. The agency said 35,788 candidates completed their examination successfully.
At Shri Satya Sai PG College in Jaipur, 192 candidates appeared for the test. However, 49 of them could not finish the examination because of the power failure. The NTA attributed the outage to M/S Eduquity Career Technologies Private Limited, the agency responsible for conducting the examination.
Fresh exam on September 1
The testing agency expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates. It announced that their re-examination would take place at 10 am on September 1. The NTA selected the Rajasthan College of Engineering for Women in Jaipur as the new examination centre. It said the 49 affected candidates would receive revised admit cards with further information about the fresh examination. The agency advised them to check the details mentioned on their new admit cards before reaching the venue.
